Bread Upma is a simple, easy and tasty snack recipe which can also be served as a breakfast recipe. basically bread masala upma is prepared from left over bread which involves toasting of bread and then frying it with other spices and vegetables.
Bread – 3 slice
Oil – 1 tbsp
Mustard Seeds – ¼ tsp
Urad Dal – ¼ tsp
Asafoetida – 1 pinch
Ginger – ½ inch
Curry Leaves – 10 nos
Green Chilli – 1 no
Roasted Peanuts – ¼ Cup
Onion – 1 no
Tomato – 1 no
Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
Chilli powder – ½ tsp
Water – ¼ Cup
Salt – To Taste
Lemon Juice – ½ tsp
Coriander Leaves – 1 tbsp
HOW TO MAKE IT
1.In a pan toast the bread till it is brown and crispy. Remove from the heat and cut the bread into cubes.
2.In another pan heat oil, add mustard seeds, urad dal. Once it starts to splutter add asafoetida, chopped ginger, green chilli and curry leaves.
3.Add one finely chopped onion and saute it until it turns golden brown.
4.Add one finely chopped tomato and cook until it turns mushy.
5.Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, lemon juice and roasted peanuts.
6.Add 4 tbsp of water and cook until the mixture thickens.
7.Add the toasted and chopped bread cubes.
8.Combine everything together for 2 mins, add the coriander leaves and remove from heat.
9.Serve hot as a snack or breakfast.
